Sacrifice - NaNoWriMo Day 6

“Opfer müssen gebracht werden!” Translation from German: ”Sacrifices must be made!” -Otto Lilienthal, German Pioneer of Aviation

As the ‘Old Cajun Man’(as he is credited) in Joe Dirt once said, “Home is where you make it.” There is something in that. Not just about home, but about how the situation you are in is only as bad as you let it be. Of course, things are out of your control but your mindset and outlook is the thing that will dictate how things go the majority of the time.

Expectations - NaNoWriMo Day 5

“Me l’aspettavo.” Translation from Italian: ”I expected it to happen” -Pino Puglisi, Italian Priest

The weather today was just absolutely miserable. It was about low to mid 40 degrees Fahrenheit (5-8C), cloudy and then it started to rain in the afternoon. I went to a hockey game but unfortunately, walking there, I was stuck in a rough patch of heavy rain. My shoes got soaked as I walked into the hockey rink, so I was then in a hockey rink for the next 2 or 3 hours with wet shoes and socks. This wasn’t so bad during the match, but after was when I left, it was even colder, dark and raining. I stepped in a few puddles but luckily it was only a short 4 or 5 stations between the hockey rink and where I am staying. I am better now though, I got home, warmed up my feet in hot water, changed clothes and my shoes are now drying.

Green Day - NaNoWriMo Day 3

“I can hear the music all around me.” -Dudley Moore, British actor

Usually when I travel, plane, bus, train or car, I always have something audio going on. Usually, it’s podcasts and then between the podcasts, I listen to a little music to break up the talking then go back to another podcast. However, today, I spent about 7 hours on a train today and I was consumed by music the entire time. My music preferences go from Pop-Punk to German Rap or Scandinavian Hip-Hop and all kinds of things in between. However, today, all I could find the desire to listen to was the band that really started all my independent musical preferences.

Home - NaNoWriMo Day 2

“Turn up the lights— I don’t want to go home in the dark.” -O. Henry (William Sydney Porter), American Short Story Writer

When I first learned about the Deutsche Bahn 100 Bahn Card, I immediately wanted it at all cost. It is a card that allows you to ride all public transport and Deutsche Bahn operated trains in Germany for free. Unfortunately, it costs about 6000 Euro a year and while that would be awesome…. I would need to ride a cross-country train about 60 times, deciding to go that day to make it worth the value, but also, I just don’t have that money to spend. Honestly though, if I had the money, I’d go for it.
